The University of the Philippines College of Dentistry established this Dental Board Orientation/Review to aid graduates of the different dental schools hurdle the Dental Licensure Examinations offered by the Professional Regulations Commission biannually.
One of the goals of this intensive course is to refresh the student’s knowledge and skills towards various disciplines in the field of Dentistry. The different presentations and discussions are aimed to facilitate recall of pertinent pieces of information deemed useful for the Board Examination. This would also, hopefully, deepen the student’s appreciation as well as understanding of the different disciplines that are relevant to the practice of the profession.
Most of the lecturers are faculty members of the UP College of Dentistry who are seasoned instructors of Basic Dental subjects. Non-dental topics are usually discussed by different experts who are either UP faculty or have training from institutions like the UP College of Medicine, the UP College of Public Health, the UP College of Law and from the National Teacher’s Training Center for the Health Professions in UP Manila.
Teaching strategies range from the standard lectures and case presentations to discussions of simulated Board Examination questions and small group discussions.
